I’m Lizzie!
After I left my full-time job at a Toronto production company to build my own business, I realized how difficult it was to break through and establish authority on my own.
Working with brands like Mercedes Benz, Meridian Credit Union, and The Scotland Tourism Board laid the foundation for my online teaching career and business through YouTube.
Since then, I’ve used my corporate experience as a producer/director and my skills as a photographer/cinematographer to work with well-known brands such as Adobe, Google, and Toyota.

Hey, it’s Lizzie! If you’re anything like me, traveling to a foreign place with your camera in hand, gives me a burst of creativity and a feeling like no other.
In my early days of building a business, I didn’t always know how to set proper expectations and firm boundaries around my photography. Sometimes, I was so happy to just have a job that I would do whatever my client wanted me to, which often led to major scope creep leaving me severely underpaid for the work I did.
There were even a few times when I didn’t have a solid plan for how I would run a shoot. This not only made me anxious, but I could tell it rubbed off on my clients–causing them to doubt the quality of my work. And I wondered how I’d be able to make this a full-time career.
After a while, I learned how essential it was to clearly communicate my process and what I would deliver. Not only did this save me some headaches down the road, but I started to get paid more for my services, and it positioned me as the expert.
This, along with other processes in my business – allowed me to go from part-time photographer to video producer inside my own company. This was all because I positioned myself as a production house, not a solopreneur.
